Sara Kay

Tattoo Artist, Damask Tattoo

Art and design have always been a part of me and I can confidently say that it is truly a passion for life! Super articulated line-work, fully realized juxtaposition within a design, and rich, saturated color is what I strive for no matter the medium. Dynamic, illustrative images and sweeping gestural structure. Whether it is traditional materials or tattoo ink, I put my all into the project at hand. As an artist, I consistently desire to challenge myself.

Originally from north New Jersey, I drew heavy inspiration from growing up in a diverse visual environment. I attended Pennsylvania College of Art & Design and graduated with a BFA in Communication Arts & Illustration. After several years of tattooing alongside my mentor, I assisted in opening a second tattoo shop and growing clientele from the ground up. When Seattle presented itself as a new journey, I leapt at the opportunity. It has been exhilarating and I can testify that it was all meant to fall into place! Outside of tattooing, I enjoy diving into personal work and pet portraiture.  I am heavily influenced by painting, whether that is abstract, modern or contemporary. I draw style from the Masters. I make my design and color decisions based on what feels like it will complete the visual performance. Most times these decisions are intuitive, each piece is unique in that way. I am immersed in my work and it is truly amazing that I have the opportunity to see my designs come to a permanent, physical fruition. Favorite Styles:

  • Illustrative
  • Watercolor/Painterly
  • Abstract/Geometric
  • Neo Traditional
  • Portraiture/Animal Portraiture
